My favourite chick!
Nearly Ouch, but she's smiling. Happy landing! What time is lunch?
A big fish for our little river.         ABOVE  RIGHT On the
             dinning table waiting
                                  for lunch

LEFT The map on the
wall, and a fish some young lad caught in the River Hayle.

RIGHT Jim gets the bird.

Hm? Not a bad perch.

Please don't expect that this book is all about birds - it's just that they make the best pictures! The novel is about life in the valley, the waterwheel that still make the only electricity, the holiday visitors and their antics, what makes a fish rise, why should someone suddenly want a small onion, who screamed when the showers went cold - and what little lad turned the gas off? This and much more mischief, a little romance (a bit cheeky in places), some danger, an awkward customer and a brew labelled Felis Leo, and lots more about tents and caravans - and Arthur, of course - these just as much as the birds, are the things that make up the story.
