Something nobody wants to know!

There is no such explanation given in the book, because frankly I suspect, most people would not be interested! Books are for fun, and for humour - a few risks and a little romance helps - embarrassing incidents with holidaymakers in caravans and tents, the mischief children get up to, a little local history - all very acceptable -
but technical stuff?  No way!
However for the masochists among you - here goes. You can't follow this without the diagram on the back page of the book,  although some egghead is going to draw the diagram himself and send it to me.  No?   You want to bet?

A is a cog wheel fixed to the main axle and must turn at waterwheel speed.
B is a smaller cogwheel with less teeth and therefore turns faster - try it with your bicycle.
C and B on the same axle must turn at the same speed - now 5 times the waterwheel speed.
D and C are connected by the same belt, therefore D being smaller rotates more quickly, again you can see this from your bicycle. Thus D turns at 25 times waterwheel speed.
E and D on the same shaft must turn at the same speed.
F is an alternator, and as its pulley is much smaller than E, it turns faster. The alternator is now turning at 125 times the waterwheel speed. Naturally this has been simplified, the real gear ratios are not quite so exact.

There! I told you that you didn't want to know!
The book does not contain any such explanations.

Ivy's first kid is born - but billy goats don't give much milk.

The birth of a goat.
Billy by name, this one is a male. You guessed? Really? Not likely to be a good milker then?
Can he survive or....?

Billy is super - but what is to become of him?

That's it!
I've missed out the best parts - Buy the Book!

In fact buy several - for Christmas Presents -
no bad language, you can safely give it to Mother.
(Father will enjoy it too.)

Oh yes, there is one more page if you really want to see sad photos of the sewer.
